Teaching the New NSW K-6 Science and Technology syllabus
Hybrid Course

During Q4, 2018 Pedacomp will be conducting a hybrid course consisting of individual self-study, an at-school group study/workshop, and an at-school live instructor-led course &  workshop

Everything you and your teacher colleagues need to know to expertly teach the 2019 NSW K-6 Science and Technology syllabus

(including hands-on coding and experimentation with a full range of robots and other technology)

Boys coding a device

The course is available all of term 4, 2018
Monday 15 October to Friday 21 December
AND all of term 1, 2019
Monday 28 January to Friday 12 April
(you choose the dates that suit)

It is held during out-of-class hours so you don't incur casual relief costs nor sacrifice class teaching time.

The information below helps you choose dates and explains more about the course venue.

The course and workshops consists of 3 components:

  1. 9 hours on-line individual self-study
  2. 6 hours group learning/workshop at your school
  3. 6 hours live instructor tuition and workshop at your school

In the below information we refer to these as 1st component, 2nd component and 3rd component

The components must be completed in sequence:
  1. Your teachers first all individually complete the 9 hours on-line self-study
  2. Then your teachers together, but in groups of four, complete the 6 hours group learning/workshop
  3. Finally your teachers together, but in groups of four, complete the 6 hours live instructor tuition and workshop

The 1st component is completed on our fully-automated Moodle online Learning Management System.  Teachers can complete this in their own time, when and where it suits them.

The 2nd component is completed at your school and can be scheduled for dates that suit your school.

The 3rd (live instructor-led) component is completed at your school and can be scheduled for dates that suit your school, within the constraint that our instructors conduct the 3rd component over your choice of two consecutive weekday-after-school afternoons on Mondays & Tuesdays, or on Wednesdays & Thursdays, or on a full-day Saturday.

The Monday & Tuesday and the Wednesday & Thursday sessions run from 3:15pm to 6:15pm.  The Saturday full-day session runs from 9:15am to 4:15pm with 20-minute morning and afternoon tea breaks, and a 40-minute lunch break.
